CSZs are to be used on "parts of a roadway" where public safety is of special concern to a community. All rules of the road remain unchanged, however there are increases to the fines for moving violations that occur within a CSZ. As such, by-laws have been updated and the appropriate on-street signage (as listed in OTM Book 5) has been installed.
These new zones were developed through a comprehensive process of developing a CSZ Policy and Criteria to meet the needs of our community with consideration of a number of factors including: proximately to school zones, community centres, senior centres and/or parks and playgrounds, pedestrian traffic levels and collision ratios, lanes of traffic, among other factors. |
